Sermon Notes: “When You Know You’re Crowned”
Romans 5:17
For if, by the trespass of the one man (Adam), death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
Reign:
to be king, to exercise kingly power, to exercise the highest influence, to control
Psalm 8:3-5 NKJV
3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
Psalm 8:3-5 Amplified Bible
3 When I see and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have established,
4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?
5 Yet You have made him a little lower than God,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
“When You Know You’re Crowned”
Eight Takeaways from the Life of David
- When you know you’re crowned, you take bread to others.
1 Samuel 17:17-20 (AMP)
“Then Jesse said to David his son, “Take for your brothers an ephah of this roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread and run quickly to the camp to your brothers.”
John 6:35
“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
2. When you know you’re crowned, you don’t allow the ridicule of others to stop you.
1 Samuel 17:28
“But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry. “What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded. “What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!” “What have I done now?” David replied. “I was only asking a question!”
Acts 20:24
“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”
3. When you know you’re crowned, you draw strength from past victories.
1 Samuel 17:32-37
34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
Psalm 18:32
“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
4. When you know you’re crowned, you rely on the armor of God and His weapons.
1 Samuel 17:38-40
” Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.
“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.”
Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
2 Corinthians 10:4
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;”
5. When you know you’re crowned, you trust the covenant you have with God.

“Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
1 Samuel 17:45
