WE BELIEVE

Mission:

Harbor Church exists to reach and develop people through the life-changing power of the Gospel of Grace and the full message of Salvation.

CORE BELIEFS

Jesus:

We believe Jesus is the Christ, son of the living God and was the Word of God that was made flesh and empowered by the Holy Spirit to demonstrate the Father’s kingdom in the earth. Through Christ’s death on the Cross and resurrection from the dead, we receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit leading us to enjoy all of the benefits of the abundant life Jesus spoke of in John 10:10.

1 John 4:9, John 14:6, Romans 8:1

Bible:

We believe Scripture is the inspired word of God and is profitable and beneficial to equip and empower the believer for every good work. We believe that the Word of God must be rightly divided for us to understand and grow in this present age.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, Romans 15:4, Hebrews 4:12-13

Salvation:

We believe that salvation is received through believing and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Through Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection from the grave, we have been made right with God and are recipients of SOZO salvation.

Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38, Titus 3:5

Holy Spirit:

We believe the Holy Spirit empowers believers through infilling and baptism, making us witnesses of Christ in the earth. The Holy Spirit’s gifts and fruits in our lives are used to glorify God by demonstrating His love and power through us.

Acts 1:8, John 14:26, Romans 8:26

Baptisms:

We believe that according to 1 Corinthians 12:13 the Holy Spirit baptizes us into the body of Christ when we become believers in the finished work of Jesus. We believe according to 1 Peter 3:21 that a fellow believer baptizes us in water as a public profession of our faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe according to Acts 1:8 that Jesus baptizes us into the Holy Spirit, so we are endued with power to walk in the blessing and demonstration of the Holy Spirit’s power in our lives.

1 Corinthians 12:13, 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 1:8

Tithing/Giving:

We believe that as new covenant believers, we do not live under the Old Testament mandate of tithing, but are given the privilege to tithe and give offerings to support the local church/body of Christ. Tithing & Giving are acts of worship unto the Lord by honoring Him with our first fruits, giving Him access by faith to our daily lives.

- Luke 6:38, Proverbs 3:9, Matthew 6:21

Kingdom of God:

It is the Father’s desire that we establish God’s kingdom throughout the earth, to walk as victorious Christ followers in our homes, workplaces, schools, and throughout the marketplace.

- Colossians 1:13, Romans 14:17, Matthew 16:9

Church Participation: We believe that when we’re born again, we become members of the body of Christ and it is therefore incumbent upon us to connect with a local fellowship of believers. In doing so, we worship corporately, we receive Biblical teaching, and we serve one another and our community, thus allowing us to grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 10:25, 1 Corinthians 1:10, Proverbs 27:17
