Sermon Notes: The Blessing - Part Four

Genesis 1:26 NIV

“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.”

Exodus 7:1 NLT

“Then the LORD said to Moses, “Pay close attention to this. I will make you seem like God to Pharaoh”

God wants to make us seem just like Himself to the world.

The Holy Spirit, the very spirit of Jesus helps us accomplish this.

John 14:17 NLT

He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

Acts 4:1-8

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Genesis 41:51-52 (NLT)

Joseph named his older son Manasseh, for he said, “God has made me forget all my troubles and everyone in my father's family.” Joseph named his second son Ephraim, for he said, “God has made me fruitful in this land of my grief.”

The Holy Spirit:

The One that Helps and Empowers

Acts 4:8 NKJV

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

John 15:26 ERV

“I will send you the Helper from the Father. The Helper is the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father. When he comes, he will tell about me.

Romans 8:26-28

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Press into the Holy Spirit, and be like God, and be like Jesus!
